BTA Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Zoudne (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use BTA (Bus Tracking App), including the mobile applications, school admin dashboard, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

BTA is a school bus tracking platform operated by Zoudne. The Service helps schools manage student transport, enables drivers to navigate routes, and lets parents follow bus status and receive arrival alerts.

For privacy questions, contact us at info@zoudne.com.

2. Information we collect

Depending on your role (parent, driver, or school administrator), we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account details: name, email address, phone number, and login credentials.
  • School and transport data: school name, routes, stops, buses, driver assignments, and trip records.
  • Student information provided by the school or parent: student name, grade/class, home location or stop coordinates, guardian relationships, pickup PIN, and attendance/status events (e.g. boarded, absent, dropped off, picked up).
  • Location data: live and historical GPS location of the bus/driver device during active trips, used for tracking, ETAs, approach alerts, speed monitoring, and trip replay.
  • Messages and requests: chat messages between parents and the school, announcements, absence/pickup requests, and SOS/emergency alerts.
  • Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, push notification tokens, language preference, and diagnostic logs needed to operate and improve the Service.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide live bus tracking, ETAs, approach notifications, and route navigation.
  • Operate school administration features (routes, students, parents, drivers, reports, and branding).
  • Enable secure student handoff (including pickup PIN verification) and trip status updates.
  • Send service communications such as push notifications, alerts, and operational messages.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability and performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.

4. Location data

Driver/bus location is collected while a trip is active so parents and schools can see the bus on the map, receive approach alerts, and so drivers can navigate assigned routes.

Location access on driver devices is required for core tracking features. Location is not used for unrelated advertising. Historical trip locations may be retained for school operations such as trip replay, safety review, and reporting, according to the school’s retention needs and applicable law.

5. Children’s information

BTA is designed for school transport. Student information is typically provided by the school and/or a parent or legal guardian to operate the Service safely.

We do not knowingly allow children to create independent accounts to use the Service without school/parent involvement. Student data is processed only to deliver transport tracking, safety, and school communication features.

Parents or guardians who believe a child’s information was provided incorrectly should contact the school administrator and/or email info@zoudne.com so we can help review and correct or delete the data as appropriate.

6. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information only as needed to operate the Service:

  • With the relevant school: student, parent, driver, and trip data are visible to authorized school administrators for transport operations.
  • Between authorized users: for example, parents see their linked children’s trip status; drivers see route/stop details needed for the trip.
  • With service providers: hosting, push notifications, mapping/routing, analytics/diagnostics, and similar processors who act on our instructions and are required to protect the data.
  • For legal reasons: if required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, schools, or Zoudne.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred subject to continued privacy protections.

7. Data retention

We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service, support school operational records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations.

Schools may control certain operational records (such as trip history and reports). When an account or school deployment ends, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, unless longer retention is required by law or legitimate operational needs.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including access controls, encrypted transmission where appropriate, and authenticated sessions.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We continuously work to improve safeguards, but cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location and role, you may have rights to access, correct, update, or request deletion of personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Parents: you can update profile details in the app where available, and request changes to student-linked data via the school or by contacting us.
  • Drivers and school staff: contact your school administrator or email info@zoudne.com for account updates or deletion requests.
  • Push notifications can usually be disabled in device settings; doing so may limit alerts such as bus approach notifications.
  • Location permission for drivers can be managed in device settings; disabling it will prevent core tracking features from working.

10. International processing

Zoudne operates across multiple countries. Your information may be processed on servers or by providers located outside your country of residence. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps reasonably necessary to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with this Privacy Policy.

11. Third-party services and links

The Service may rely on third-party infrastructure such as maps/routing, cloud hosting, and push notification platforms. Those providers process data only as needed to deliver their services to us.

If the Service contains links to third-party websites, their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for those third-party practices.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
